The city of Niagara Falls is set to shine during the celebration of 35 years for the Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights!

Enjoy Canada’s foremost illumination festival over the Holiday Season, beginning November 18th, 2017 to January 31st, 2018.

The Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights transforms Niagara Falls into a palette of breathtaking colour with millions of sparkling lights and animated displays located within the Niagara Parks, Dufferin Islands and surrounding tourist districts.

Illuminations include fifteen Canada Wildlife displays, the Sylma and over fifty tree wrapped in lights in Dufferin Islands, the world’s largest Canadian- American Flag, the light show on the Toronto Power Generating station, the two-storey tall Zimmerman Fountain, three-dimensional Angels, and a visitor favourite, Noah’s Ark!

Plus, you don’t want to miss out on free programming like the Fallsview Sound & Light Show at The Oakes Hotel, Laser Light Shows at the Top of Clifton Hill and the Winter Festival of Lights Opening Ceremonies in Niagara Parks Queen Victoria Park.

Sound and Light Show - Right Here at The Oakes Hotel!

When: Thursday to Sunday, the show plays at 8:00PM

The city-facing side of the Oakes Hotel serves as the canvas for the Festival’s high-tech projection lighting show. The Fallsview Sound & Light Show is broadcast on the façade of the Oakes Hotel on 6546 Fallsview Boulevard, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Free for visitors to enjoy, this light show will mesmerize viewers with a kaleidoscope of colour & texture treatments, visual transitions, and dynamic music and sound. See the new show for 2017 featuring the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Opening Ceremonies

  • When: Saturday, November 18th, 2017
  • Where: Queen Victoria Park
  • Showtimes: Approximately 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm
  • Price: FREE

he kick-off to the 35th Winter Festival of Lights begins with Opening Ceremonies in Niagara Parks’ Queen Victoria Park on Saturday November 18th, 2017. To celebrate this milestone season, this year’s Opening Ceremonies will feature a trilling performance by NorthFIRE with spectacular pyrotechnics and flame effects from David Whysall Fireworks. NorthFIRE is a high energy show, with beautifully choreographed fire acts that will amaze. Featuring a diverse set of highly skilled variety circus performers and featuring fire hoops, poi, staff, swords and acrobatics.

The opening night of the Winter Festival of Lights will also feature two explosive Fireworks shows over the illuminated Falls taking place at the conclusion of each of the Opening Ceremonies stage shows.

Illumination Displays

From November 18th 2017 to January 31st 2018, every evening at dusk you will find several areas of Niagara Falls dazzle with millions of LED lights, found along the 8km route that covers the Niagara Parkway, and adjoining many other festive areas of the Winter Festival of Lights such as the Fallsview district and Dufferin Islands. It is surely to be an experience you never forget!

Fallsview Sound and Light Show

  • When: Friday to Sunday, the show plays on a loop from dusk to 10:30PM
  • Where: The Oakes Hotel Overlooking the Falls, 6546 Fallsview Blvd. Niagara Falls

The city facing side of our hotel will become a canvas for the Winter Festival of Lights high-tech projection lighting show. Free for visitors to enjoy, this light show will mesmerize viewers with a kaleidoscope of colour & texture treatments, visual transitions, and dynamic music and sound.

Laser & Light Show

  • When: Nightly from December 22, 2017 to January 7, 2018
  • Where: Victoria Avenue Promenade at the top of Clifton Hill
  • Price: FREE
  • Showtimes: 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 & 8:30PM
  • Duration: Each show is 15 minutes long. The Interactive Laser booth where you can write a message or draw pictures is open between showtimes.

Deck the Falls: A Holiday Walking Tour

  • When: December 1 & 2, December 8 & 9, December 15 & 16
  • Times: Each night from 5:00PM until 10:00PM
  • Price: $39.38 PLUS fees and taxes
